Parent Classes & Groups

Family Resource Center of Central Oregon offers free parenting education classes and workshops in Deschutes, Crook, and Jefferson Counties. We partner with schools, early education, and other community programs to offer various locations and programs to meet families' needs. Offerings change frequently, so give us a call or browse the calendar for the latest! Class examples include the following.

Circle of Security - For those with children birth through age 5 (8 weeks).

Learn how to help your child feel safe, regulate their emotions, and build their self-esteem. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child is really asking of you.
Nurturing Early Years - For parents with children birth to age 5 (12 weeks).

Parents explore their childhood experiences, their fears, and their strengths.
Participants develop self-awareness and build nurturing skills using a variety
of positive parenting strategies. Fulfills mandated client requirement.
The Incredible Years - For parents with children 6 years and younger (10 weeks).

This fun interactive program uses child-centered play to develop positive relationships while promoting your child’s academic, social, and emotional skills and reduce problem behaviors.
Make Parenting a Pleasure - For parents with children birth to age 8 (10 weeks).

Discover ways to manage & reduce stress, learn about your child’s development, and build your toolkit for positive discipline.
Active Parenting - For parents with children 5-12 (6 weeks).

This class is for parents that want to raise responsible, cooperative children
who can resist negative peer pressure and thrive.
Nurturing Parents - For parents with children 5 to 12 years (12 weeks).

Parents explore their childhood experiences, their fears, and their strengths.
They develop self-awareness and build nurturing skills using a variety of
positive parenting strategies. Fulfills mandated client requirement.
Active Parenting of Teens - For parents with youth 10 & up (6 weeks).

Gain an understanding of how brain development impacts teen behavior and decision making. Improve communication, discuss technology & social media, & more!
