The Family Resource Center of Central Oregon offers topical parent discussion groups for parents and care givers who want to learn more about specific topics. Discussion groups are 60 to 90 minutes long and are scheduled based on demand.
Parent Discussion Group Topics Include:
- Stress Till You Pop
In this facilitated discussion, parents will increase their understanding of stress and anger, ways to recognize the emotions in themselves and in their children, and proven strategies to effectively help them and their children express the two emotions in positive, healthy ways.

- Talking to Your Kids Doesn’t Have to Be So Hard
In this facilitated discussion parents will learn the dos and don’ts of communication. Strategies with proven success will be offered that are designed to keep the lines of communication open between parents and their children.

- Ages and Stages: Infants & Toddlers
This facilitated will focus on the ages and stages of growth of infants and toddlers, understanding the importance of having appropriate developmental expectations of children, and the role success has in promoting children’s positive self worth.

- Raising a Confident Child: Building Self-Worth
The focus of this facilitated discussion is to increase parents’ understanding of the importance of a positive self-worth in themselves and in their children. Additionally, parents will learn proven strategies to help build their child’s positive self-worth.
